The subspecies of green rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus visicidiflorus ssp. lanceolatus) in most of the the Conifer Zone differs from the more widely distributed ssp. viscidiflorus is being finely hairy and having broader leaves.  At least one plant has also been documented along the road cutting diagonally across the slope above Lydle Gulch, where ssp. viscidiflorus also grows.
