The mountain lupine (var. argenTATus) is the montane representative of the silver lupine complex (L. argentEUs) in our area, distinctive in its relatively green leaves and small flowers.  It can easily be found along the Lodge Trail on the north side of Shafer Butte, often in semi-shade.
