Short-rayed alkali aster (Symphyotrichum frondosum) is distinctive in being a relatively small annual with inconspicuous narrow rays.  It has been found in only a few locations in the Boise Front coverage area; i.e., Esther Simplot Park and Blacks Creek Reserve).
