The commonly cultivated European plum (Prunus domestica, alternatively P. vulgaris) is sporadically encountered in the Boise Front, usually where persisting around old homesteads (as in Five-Mile Gulch) or as single trees in suitable habitat (e.g., Hidden Springs wetlands).  It is a small tree with blunt, hairy leaves and hairy twigs.  Mature fruit are dark with a paler bluish bloom.
